MARRIAGE BOND OF WILLIAM STUART

Know all men by these present that one William Stuart and Robert Deviney both of
the County of Rutherford are held and firmly bound unto Benjamin Smith, Esq. governor
or his successor in office the just and full sum of five hundred pounds to which
payments well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and each of our
heirs, executors, administrators jointly firmly and severally by there paerints
sealed with our seals and dated this 29th day of Jan 1811
The condition of this obligation is such that where as the above bound William Stuart hath made aplication for and obtained a license for marriage to be celebrated between him and Miss Betsy Deviney now if it shall not appear hereafter that there is any lawful reason to object to Marriage then this obligation is to be void and of none effect otherwise to be and to remain in full force and --- in law.
